I put up a portal in jan 45*40 for 8k+vat erected. If it was any other time
of year I would have put it up myself and save 2k
Look on donedeal under farming- buildings to get an idea of prices. There is a guy from Meath that gives a lot of different prices for different sizes

Rossdrum? a joke i live about 5 mile away and called him 5 times and emails to price a simple 48 x 20 stand alone lean-to. Never got a price in the end off him.

Would you consider buying a 2nd hand shed? lots on donedeal

I put up a shed last year . I had the plans drawn up professionally. I emailed 6 or 7 companies on done deal. Only 3 came back with a quote. Buts its a good way to get an average price for to to gauge pricing.

15k is about right. bring the width of the shed in a bit and you can lower the spec on the steel. If you can stick to 36 ft wide the shed lads like it cause theres no waste off cuts . im after putting on an extension on my workshop. i got 8x4 shot blasted and primed at 6.40 per foot. timber purlins 16' at e16 each and cladding worked out at 1500 per bay, sheeted down to 7'. each bay cost around 2100 in materials. but then you have to allow for end sheeting and an extra set of uprights and rafters to that cost. doors and all the little bits dont be long gathering up too. dont forget the concrete too.

Following the below comment, the owner of Rossdrum contacted me. In all fairness he said he had totally forgot to send the quote and look that happens us all at times. So yes i gave out about him but you cant knock a lad who makes the effort to put something right. And as i explained to him, if it was that hard to get a quote imagine if something had been wrong with the shed. A few neightbours had got sheds from them and I had gotten excellent feedback regarding product and service.

    2nd chance granted.

    No affiliation at all.

Does anyone know what the story is with sheds that are made out of say 3" box inside if girders, sheeted down to the ground and are bolted to a concrete slab.... are they planning permission exempt up to a certain size seeing as they are not a permanent structure as such?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,342 ✭✭✭JohnBoy

From the research I did a few years ago they're no more nor less permanent than any other structure.

If it's in the same spot for 9 months at a time I think they can require planning for it!

was thinking about a 60x30 but would an extra 6ft width be more economical wastewise and cheaper relatively.

Are you taking a chance with just one agitation point. I've a 4 bay with 2 agitation points and twice I've had difficulty shifting some solid stuff in the middle.

Ok, first time on here, so go easy. I said I'd post my query in this thread rather than start a new one. I read an article a while back about an engineering firm in the midlands that designed a shed for tipping articulated lorries of feed and fertiliser in. It had a retractable roof on rollers, that slid back halfway, allowing the lorry to tip. Anyone any idea who the firm is, or perhaps ye might remember where I read the article? I can't! It was Farming Independent or Farmers Journal.
