Car Hire in Italy

    On to vent frustration and let others know of my experience. Lucky enough to be heading to Italy for a few week's hols on Monday. My problem is that I had booked a car for the duration of the trip, a Ford S-max. I understand that the exact model may not be available, but I did not expect what happened today. They rang me to say the S-max was not available, and they were giving me a ford focus instead (my first problem), but I had to pay €93 more for it (my second problem). My understanding would be that I would have got a similar size of car for the same price. Apparently not with this crowd. I was able to cancel and contacted my credit card company to make sure no payment goes to them. Managed to book another car (Estate) for €100 more anyway. Just checked web site and the s-max is still there for rent. :mad:

    You mean it is still there to be booked, but most probably once they get the booking then the customer will be contacted and offered a focus just like yourself.

    Very bad form from the company. An s-max is a people carrier is it not? you would expect at the very least an alternative people carrier would be offered. A ford focus is most definitely not a people carrier!
