Most of the better locksmiths should be able to do this for you.
They would probably prefer that you buy the key from them though.
Make a few phonecalls and see what sort of prices you get.
Also it can sometimes be expensive buying these from Ebay as a lot of manufacturers used different transponder chips (even on the same model) and you have no way of knowing if this one matches yours.

Price may not be that far off the main dealers though. You can search your car make and model, think the prices for a remote key fob is around 150 for most cars

I'm open to correct but from memory a replacement programed Volvo key is a main dealer only job. But ring around a few locksmiths anyway.

I'm only looking to get a spare key, so it doesn't need central locking functions.
But yeah it's not your normal key, could be a volvo only job.

Thanks, ill ring autokey first to see if cn be done.

Autokeys websit say they do a spare key for the v50 (no remote buttons) for €100. Not too bad.

Are you just looking for a "blade" to be able to open the car with? There should already be one in the main key, that doesn't need to be in the main key to operate the remote locking or start the car.

Don't know if they can be cut seperately if you need a spare one.

@R.O.R. No I'm looking for a spare key that will start the car in case I lose the main one.

To start the car the new fob/key will need to be coded to your car's immobilizer. A main Volvo dealer will be looking for €200+ for this.
