Back Garden Sewer Problems

My back garden has a manhole which is bang in the middle of me and my next door neighbour. This is fine and not a problem.

Then I have another smaller manhole just outside my backdoor and this is were all the waste water toilet water etc goes down and then down to the main sewer.

What happens is the hose at the end of the run sewer gets blocked and then it all comes back and eventually all the crap comes out of my smaller manhole in my back garden, this happens because my small man hole is the lowest point. And there is not a dam thing I can do about it unill the person who owns the end house unblocks his sewer. Sometimes this can take days and in the summer the smell is bad.

This problem being going on for 10 years now sometimes its blocks 4 times a year then years go by with nothing.

Because my small manhole is the lowest gravitational point I get all the toilet crap coming out into my garden. Is the a way that I can higher the small manhole or move it to higher ground, it this possible does anyone know. If I can do this then the problem will with a bit of luck no longer be mine.

Any help on this would be great.

    Not really possible.
You could raise the level of your manhole bit it would be above the ground level in your yard or garden and would look a bit crazy.
Even then the backup would just keep rising until it flows out, so you might delay the enevatible but not avoid it.

Is the level of your manhole much below the manhole at the next house. By raising it you may just dump the backup as a problem onto your neighbour which I wouldn't imagine would be good for relations either.

Clearly some household connected to your sewer run is flushing something that keeps getting stuck - are they all aware of this problem? A note through each of the doors might help..

There is also nothing to stop you calling out someone to sort out the sewer when it gets blocked, even if its on someone elses property, they will just follow the problem..

My house is at the lowest point on a sewer run and when we had a problem, it was noticed when the toilet wouldnt flush - surely your neighbours would have the same problem?

The larger man whole is higher than the smaller aj man hole.
The crap comes out the small one, i think it some how i was to make this hole higher then the problem wouldnt be mine anymore, I dont thinkmy small sewer is much lower than the next doors.

If you think i just want to move the problem on to someone else your right.
I have been up and down the street getting everyone to chip in for the drain people, and once money is talked about no one wants to know.

This why the first house dont want to be botherd getting it unblocked as no one will chip in, after 10 years i have had enough i want to some how higher the small aj sewer hole so my neighbours can deal with it.

Im not being bad but believe me enough is enough.

How about raising your small manhole about a foot higher than next door by buying an extension or two and then build a little square out of brick perhaps around it and sow a few nice flowers in it leaving a space in the middle of it to open the cover. Once your manhole is higher yours wont overflow and it cant backup unless its your pipe thats the problem. It wont overflow because it cant rise higher than next doors manhole which will be overflowing before it makes it to yours. Laser level is a must to be sure of the height though so you might have to hop over the wall with your receiver while nobody is looking. Not good practice but it will give somebody else a wakeup call and you can just say you wanted to sow a few flowers in that particular spot!!! :D:D
