Is a new sky box coming that does NOT need a phone line?

    A guy on one of the shopping center stalls said he was sure but had no more info.

    I want multi room but without a phone line they will no add it.

    They don't necassarily need a phone line anyways

    My parents have one and they didnt install the phone line

    But to answer your q, I don't know

    they always ask for it but as soon as they are gone just unplug it. 10 years without a phoneline on the box. and what about people who dont have hardline. (Please connect your mobile there) doesnt really make a difference on the standard box but the HD ones require a bit more. maybe a broadband enabled one could be next

    You don't need a phone unless maybe for multi room.

    My brother installed Sky last year, Sky said you need a phone line so we made up a temp extension phone cable to a distant phone point so that the box could be authorised when the installer came.

    When the installer came he said it wasn't required and he did everything over the phone. The box has never been connected to the phone line and no problems.

    The only time they tried to enforce this on us was years ago when we got multiroom , they claimed it was to keep track of boxes .

    Nope, they'll not offer Multiroom without an active phoneline.

    Shame this day and age that they can't use other means to ensure both STB's are in the same location, but that's the way it is.
