Any good music website/databases out there?

    I'm looking for something akin to the IMDB insofar as it'll give give a webpage for each each performer and another for each individual song. (kinda like the way IMDB does for a tv show , 1 page for the show itself and then separate pages for each episode). I'm looking for something that doesn't use unwieldy webaddress, ideally kinda like IMDB does (eg IMDB has simple 'tt00xxxxx' etc)

    The long term idea is that I can stick a particular index number on each song/artist in my collection.

    Is there anything that fits this bill? Thanks.
