    Hey guys,

Two of us are heading over to the full moon party in June and are looking for a place to stay so have a couple of questions.
How soon beforehand should you book a place?
Should we book it online or do a walk-up ?
    Where should we stay?
We have heard that the atmosphere in koh phangan is very good in the week leading up to the party so will probably hope to arrive about 4 days beforehand.
We would be looking for a place that would be comfortable enough but would also have other backpackers and would be close to nightlife and beaches.

If any of ye have any experience, we would be very grateful of yer help.
    Thanks.

Book ASAP, there'll be 100's of like minded people like yourself, all the the best places will be taken, either stay on Samui r phangan either place will be rocking on the days before the party... There's plenty of boats heading from Samui so you have plenty of options but book your place ASAP

I found it a pain going from Samui, well it was grand getting there, but getting back was HORRIBLE. Hundreds of people, and feck all boats. I'd say stay on Phangan if ya can. Mind you, I thought the whole party was rubbish so maybe I'm not the best for advice ;)

Yeah it's way over rated, was at my first one in1992 and it was fantastic only a few hundred like minded clubbers, last time was in 2009 and it was sihte full of upscale backpackers all pissed off there heads and loads of fights, you can find the likes on a sat night in any town in Ireland uk Australia and beyond..... It seems to be a rights of passage for the gap year crowd but a hell of a lot dangerous now.

Yepp I would avoid it imho its a load a crap.
Went yrs ago when it was way calmer, koh phangnan turns into a muppet fest for the duration of the party, visit it outside the party dates and its a lovely island.
The half moon in samui is fun, watch yourself and your belongings if you do go and thats more with the focus on other travelers ripping off bungalows or drunk people.
Lots of people r just so boozed up on the buckets and unable to handle it that there are plenty if fights, folks getting bottled, stabbed and a lot worse.
Unfortunately the meaning of the fullmoon has long been lost.

Yes, you will need to book well in advance if you want to stay in Koh Phangan during the Full Moon period. I can't recommend this place enough http://limesodathailand.com/

It's located right where the ferry will drop you off. It's about fifteen minute taxi from the Full Moon beach, but trust me that's what you want. This beach is beautiful, unspoiled and so mellow. It will be full of other backpackers, but the full moon chaos wont be right on your doorstep, Perfect!

I'd recommend staying about four/five nights, make the Full Moon party your second last night, so you have the few nights build up (better than the party itself IMO) and a night to recover before you make your way off.

    Hi,

There are two of us heading to the full moon party this month. aM THINKING OF STAYING ON kO sAMUI as you suggested as you must stay at least 4/5 nights in most places on Ko Pangan and getting the boat over and home for the party??? Does anyone know if I need to prebook the boat far inadvance or has anone done this before??
