Hi, I'm looking for a pay calculator that works for public service workers and factors in the pension levy. When I input my details it tells me I take home over €4k more per year that I actually do. I earn €37,200 and take home €23,100. My only extra deduction is union dues @ €11.45 fortnightly.

I would like to reduce my hours and be ble to calculate how much my take home pay would be. Thanks for your help.

I have found the following tax calculator good.
    www.taxculc.eu

You can put in your pension payments yearly
Make sure that you put your sector as A1 public

You can also put in if your married along with your husband/wife income ect.

I would also look up revenue.ie and see if you are claiming all the tax allowances you are entitled to.
If you think you have over paid tax give revenue a call and find out what tax form you need to fill out. Remember you can claim back over payments from the past 4 years.

If you are thinking of working less hours I would contact the department of social welfare as you may be entitled to a payment from them for the days you are not working. To do this your are better off working for example 2 or 3 full day a week. You can't claim off welfare working 25 hours a week over 4 or 5 days.

Thanks for that, do I add my pension contribution and pension levy when putting in pension contribution?

I was hoping to find a calculator that would correctly identify my current take home pay and I could then accurately see my take home pay after reduced hours. I need to persuade my husband that we can afford it.
