Was originally going to go the Dell XPS 8500 route (this one) as I've a work group scheme that gets me something in the region of €120 off it and I'd have limited time to put into the research and then build of a custom PC but having looked at a Newegg video linked in a previous post here it's tempting me to go the custom build route if the cost/benefit is there so thought I'd fill in the list of questions and see if anyone could advise on how much better a custom build might be to the Dell.

    1. What is your budget?
    €1100 (€1000 ideally but I wouldn't go wanting for another €100)

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Primary use will be Photoshop and Illustrator. Not a big gamer but will get Rome Total War II when it's released and would like to play this on near enough highest settings (official recommended system requirements I can't find but the preliminary requirements I could find are here if it helps).

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future?
Currently use two monitors both at 1920 x 1080. No intention to upgrade.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? Credit Card or Laser

    9. When are you purchasing? ASAP

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? No help needed (hopefully will stay that way!)
