Airpush detector

Daughter got a samsung galaxy y.... has a thing called "Airpush Detector" which is showing 2 detections called "Network". Is it harmful to remove these?? On a second point is there an app she can download to prevent these ads as opposed to something that finds them later??

Go to f-droid.org and search for AdAway - that might help.
