    Hey Lads,

Anyone ever been to Happy Valley or Sha Tin?

I am heading in September and going to both and wondering if I could get any advice or tips on where to stay or any other info

    Thanks

    Dave

Went to Happy Valley in November 2009. Serious spot. Think the entrance fee was around 10 Hong Kong dollars which wasn't much more than a euro.

Can't really give too much advice about where to stay, we stayed a good bit away from it but taxis were dirt cheap

While I didn't know much about Hong King racing before going there check for draw bias. No idea if its always or just the night I was there but you had to be drawn low. We were having small fun bets & managed to pick a few winners.

Hong Kong is a great spot to visit though, enjoy!

I went to hk in june last year and went to happy valley race meeting. Stay in the cosmopolitan hotel over the road from the race course as thats where i stayed for 10 days in hk. Sha tin is a bit out of the way so didnt bother going there.

Former ATR presenter Dave Duggan is working over there at the moment so it may be an idea to drop him a tweet as he'd surely be in the know

Thanks very much for your input lads.

Cosmopolitan Hotel was the hotel I was looking at initially. It looks lovely.

Very excited about going. Never been before and my job is trading the racing in HK so I cannot wait to be part of the action in the beer garden and betting ring.

Few fine scopey fillies in that beer garden :pac:

They have a very good museum there showing the history of Hong Kong racing which is well worth a visit as well and I think is free to visit. I was there many years ago and the hotels were all very well priced. I also visited Victoria peak which you have to do for the view, well worth the time it takes to get up there. Most amazing place to visit and I would love to go back. I went out at 5 in the morning due to jet lag on a saturday and the place was busy even at that hour.
