You shouldn't be turning into a place at speed...

The intelligent potholes, on the other hand, are a great bunch of lads.

It's only going to get worse. Isn't there some 'fix your own road' scheme being put into place now?

Did you ask the council to compensate you for the damage to your car caused by their bad road maintenance?

Cycling into Rathmines from town or around Grosvenor Road you take your life in your hands - the roads have been dug up, and then after the work they have been piled with a hilly, unstable tarmacadam mix. Deadly, especially as the drivers coming after you don't realise that you're having to dodge a mixture of hillocks and holes.

I wonder does the 'fix your own road' scheme allow you to suck some money out of politicians, quango bosses' and bankers' salaries to make good roads.

You can contribute labour and machinery apparently.

Potholes, haven't seen one of those since I was last back in Ireland :D

Did you get out and punch the pothole?

Weird thing is, first pothole I saw in years and years was two days after the bank crash. The same week I saw the first of those park-your-car-here-and-I'll-mind-it-missus merchants in the captain's caps in years and years too. It's as if they steamed up out of the road the very moment the money was gone.
