Clutch Cylinder

I've had a problem with my clutch since yesterday. It suddenly became very soft and wouldn't release quickly. It would be soft until about 1/2 halfway before meeting pressure, and then would only slowly release.

After I pumped it a few times, it seemed to resolve itself, but it happened again today, but not as bad. After I pump it, it's only soft for a small bit before engaging and it's not as slow to come out when I lift my foot, but still not as it should be.

    It's a 2005 Hyundai Tucson 2WD 2.0 petrol.

When I bought the car a year ago, the dealer put in a new clutch as part of the deal. I don't know if he put in new cylinders or not, and I can't find out as myself and the dealer aren't speaking anymore after he did a botch job on the timing belt when I bought it (which required a new belt 5K km later).

Brought it up to a garage and the guy says that without knowing if the cylinders were changed at the same time as the clutch, the only thing that they can do is replace the whole lot, which will cost me €560.

Is that true? I would have thought cylinders could be replaced without needing to replace the clutch? I have no idea if they tried bleeding the cylinder or not (I only got a call telling me the problem).

Yeah I thought it didn't sound right. I spoke to the mechanic who did the work (rather than the manager) who says that the clutch has been replaced but it looks like the cylinders haven't been. He says that fluid levels are fine, and that it's difficult to put the finger on what the problem is.

Manager says that last dealer obviously put cheaper clutch-only unit rather than a whole unit incorporating cylinders (which he's trying to push on me). I figure if it was possible for the last dealer to just replace the clutch it should be possible for someone else to replace the cylinders, right?

I'm nearly 100% sure that the Tucson has an external slave cylinder so it can be easily changed without having to remove anything else.
