Note 2 Android... Media battery Useage

Has anyone else had the issue of battery usage rocketing and finding that it's the media section of the phone that's using it?

    Packages like Media Storage
    Downloads,
    DRM Protected Content Storage

Show up on the battery details as they're consuming the battery at an alarming rate.

This only started a few days ago but for the life of me I can't resolve it.

Blanked the phone, removed the storage and formatted it.. yet when I restore it is there still and it certainly wasn't there before.

Now I have seen quite a bit of mention of this on the web but I see nowhere that shows how to resolve it.

Using Galaxy Note 2 with Android 4.1.2

    Any assistance is appreciated

Have you loaded your own media on to it ?

I've heard that corrupt media files can cause issues.

yep, I've added a good few media files... but they were all deleted and the phone left without a single media file and it was still doing the same thing.

And I did put a couple of tracks that did not work and seemed "odd" but I deleted them.

I noticed a hefty increase in my battery usage lately as well. Do you have Google Music installed? I have a sneaking suspicion all the updating they've been doing to that might be causing it

I have the same issue with my xperia z. Media server is eating up battery. Seems to be a common issue.

Leave the media scanner to run for a while. I left it for about a week or so in all. Charged it whenever I could and just the it can away. Then the media server drain went away. Not had any trouble now for about 3 weeks with it...

I removed what I thought was a couple of "errant" media files and restored the phone... this has done the trick but it wasn't instant, the media scanner ran for at least another 24hrs... seems to be perfect now though.

    Cheers
