    Hi All,

    Just looking for advise.

My G/F has a 2004 Jap import Nissan Micra, For the past 2 weeks she's telling me the steering seems to be slipping on some turns.. like she's turning the wheel then all of a sudden it slips and over turns.

She's had no accidents yet ( thank god )

But today in the Star page 6 there is an news article basically saying the same thing.. and that Nissan are re-calling over 800,000 Micra's worldwide made between 2002 and may 2006 (her's is 04).

So my question is.. since this is an Jap Import and purchased from a dealer ( Fine Motors in swords ) what does she do ? ... Will Nissan Ireland look after it ?

    thanks.

Nissan will look after it, they should contact her by post based on log book records in shannon. however she can contact any main dealer to get it booked in.

Didnt think they would look after problems on a Japanese import...

That issue aside, its not a big job, you disconnect the battery, release the airbag (usually two star bolts)(no need to disconnect airbag), tighten the centre bolt and put it back together. Job done.

Is the steering wheel far off centre?

Yes it's off a bit and has been for a while.

Can any mechanic fix it ? or does it have to be Nissan Dealer

The problem with the micras that's being recalled is just that the centre nut on the wheel may not be tight enough, and in extreme and totally unlikely circumstances, the nut might work its way off, the wheel might pull off the steering column and you're not able to steer.

What you have sounds like an electric power steering fault
