I wouldn't be surprised at all if the "celebs" included, ahem, That Woman In Nice Knickers... :o:o   :D:D;);)

Or the likes of Amanda Brunker, Roz Purcell and Brian Ormond.

And there'll surely be at least one Fair City star.

    Is Twink a dead cert?

Think of people who were on The Restaurant. I think that's a good starting point (and throw in a few people who can't cook for lulz) :)

The names are out, and Celebrity Masterchef is a Twink Free Zone (Thank God) ...

See how many 'Celebrities' you can identify before looking at the answers below ...
The eight celebrities who will be donning the signature white and orange MasterChef aprons this July will be - writer and comic actor Gary Cooke; writer and broadcaster Maia Dunphy; athlete David Gillick; National Lottery presenter Kamal Ibrahim; former model and columnist Yvonne Keating; RTÉ newcaster Aengus Mac Grianna; RTÉ sports presenter Tracy Piggott and Irish Times Consumer Affairs Correspondent Conor Pope.

    Wow!!

Kamal the only non-surprising choice there...

(Yes, I'm even surprised about Yvonne.)

I guess the folks at Montrose have, for once, woken up and smelled the coffee.

They'll probably go back to sleep as soon as this is finished, though...

That RTE TEN article, meanwhile, says that "it looks set to be one sizzling series".

That image is bad on a few levels. Once I revealed the names I could recognise the people taking part; but not from just looking at the picture before-hand!
    &
Look at the head of Dylan McGrath; dear God won't someone please smack him back into line! Posture is important in a professional picture but that's definitely not his best image used for promotions anyway.

Celebrity MasterChef - I'm rooting for Aengus or Tracey to pull this off :)

I suppose the cookery element attracts some contestants who aren't the 'usual suspects' for Reality Shows. Aengus MacGrianna might be interesting, I have never seen him outside the newsroom.

Sports stars Tracy Piggott (36) and David Gilick (29) are also in the running for the title.

I think Tracy looks well, but I don't think she has been 36 for a few years!

    9.30pm -10.30pm, Sunday July 14th on RTE1

    http://www.locatetv.com/uk/listings/rte-one#14-Jul-2013

I'm not sure how many episodes there are, or when the rest of them are broadcast.

Do ya think Aenghus McGrianna will be using this show to learn how to make his own wedding cake? (It is a recession after all.)

    http://www.herald.ie/news/aenguss-big-news-hes-going-to-get-hitched-29407401.html

In other news, who knew that Aengus was gay? I don't mind him being gay (Homophobes are fools) but I was rather surprised he was never 'out' about it, at least compared to Michael Murphy or Alan Hughes.

I just tried to series link it on Sky, and the series guide on the Sky app says that it's series 1/1 and episode 1/1.

    Serious cutbacks! :)

Who are you shouting for folks?

I'll have to go for my fellow county man, Conor Pope. ;)

Although I think Tracey Piggott has a great chance.

Born in Galway. Family moved to Cork when he was 6.

They eventually got sense and moved back to Galway when he was 13.

Attended second level school and University in Galway.

Began his career in journalism with the Connacht Tribune.

He is an avid supporter Galway hurling. Especially when they are beating Clare. :p

Its just a pity he can't cook. :)

Good Lord above, you're better than the Encyclopedia Britannica :D Thanks for the info :)

I don't have much confidence in our hurlers at the moment but I'll be hoping they win, if they do get knocked out, I'll be supporting Limerick all the way.

The hurling has been brilliant so far this year - Dublin and Limerick etc...

Aengus reminds me of a former Apprentice there with his hands on Tracey's knee.

    Anyone remember yer man?

They timed the amount of time his hand was placed on a fellow contestant's knee.

I think Aengus could be a bit a craic. RTE should consider giving him is own chat show, something like Craig Doyle's old show.

Tracy is nearer 50 than 30 surely!

I'm 35 and I remember he on tv when I was very young

All contestants are very likeable to be fair

Aengus has no interest in Tracy or any if the girls for that matter. But he has cooked the best meal!

    Yvonne to go maybe?

They must be hiding in a corner.

Otherwise Tubbs, BOC, and the Quality Street girl would have had them on their shows by now.

Hello everybody, I was doing the weeds when I got a text saying this was on.. Did she mention anything about hitting Ronan with a saucepan yet?

Nope , most juicy tidbit so far was that she grew up eating only chocolate as a child

The Quality Street girl might invite Aengus on her show yet, especially as Aengus just recently announced his engagement to his longtime partner, Terry.

After what he did, he'd want to be bait with more than a saucepan

Yvonne looks much better without him younger even

Just started watching now. First thought - RTE really don't get twitter, do they? 140 characters, and they want followers to use up 20 of those with #celebritymasterchef.

    #longesthashtagever_duh_RTE.
