Dealing with a Quietgoer

I suspect that a family member I had arranged to meet up with a while back would rather spend the night making finger puppets at home in the dark out of old socks despite the fact that all her socks are nearly new.

I sent her a couple of text but I'm not getting any replies because she's still trying to crowdsource a good excuse off the internet. What is the best way of enticing her to come along anyway, should I tell her that someone nearby is running a finger puppet making class the same day? What would be a suitable gentle way of giving her the opportunity to let me know without awkwardness that she isn't going to show up for the aforementioned reason of making finger puppets on her own so I won't be left wondering till the day before if she's going to show up or not?

Ever since people started to outsource their social lives to social networking sites quietgoers are becoming more of a problem. They simply don't know how to deal with the unpleasant aspects anymore. If this was a facebook event they could simply press a button to remove themselves from the list in a guilt-free manner without having any personal dealings with me but I'm not into the whole facebook scene.

This thing with quietgoers all started with jobs I applied for not sending a PFO and giving me the run-around when I phoned up to enquire, then girls I met on dating sites, then friends I knew in real life and now even family members are doing it to me. Now I feel the need to brush up on my skills in dealing with these people and come to ask fellow boardsies for some pro-tips.

Have you any more details on that finger-puppet making class? It might help with a problem I have.

"Crowdsourcing"? "Quietgoers"?? "Facebook"??? Leave that girl alone, put some trousers on, and go outside. Sit under a tree and write a haiku. Good lanthering Jaysis, the ants are going to win after all... :(

So, people keep ignoring you and/or try to get out of hanging out with you?

I never heard the term quietgoer before; from what I can make out it means someone who won't show up at a social occasion but also won't tell you that they're not going to show.

Surely the term quietungoer is more appropriate?

    OP's plan:

    1) Make incomprehensible post
    2) Disappear and don't answer any questions on post
    3) ??????
    4) Profit

Let me take a wild guess: Some geek fancies the pantyhose off his first-cousin, and has been hitherto unable to coax her away from Facepuke to help him fabricate the next generation of buck-toothed, funny-smelling folk with no social skills. In the Good Old Days he would have become a Bachelor Farmer, but nowadays one also has the option of making up a load of bull**** Noo Meeja words and whining on Internet forums about how everything is everyone else's fault. :D
