I have to say I find it boring when I see " thinly veiled........ thread" I think some users put this on every thread they comment on. What other user pet hates are out there ? .I nearly forgot about the users who lack self confidence and throw in the put downs at every turn.

Anytime someone posts something about the government being thieves or how awful the Catholic Church is in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with that.

I don't click on threads discussing those things for a reason, don't bring them into threads that have a potential to actually be interesting!

I dont like those 'thinly veiled' comments myself.
And I hate when you see two lads (not just on boards mind you) having a huge debate about something and then one of them turns and starts giving the other guy hassle because his grammar and spelling isnt 100%.
And on that subject, I often wonder, the amount of people claiming dyslexia online when they get pulled on bad grammar or bad spelling. It seems every second person is a budding dsylexic.

    Think thats it.

EDIT: Just after remembering from reading the above comment, that 3-50 thing pisses me off to no end.

'Provide a link' to mean 'you've made a good point, but I'm to stubborn to acknowledge it,.

If the topic is that important to you, open a google tab and find the info yourself.

People who post something on the second or third page that's already been said or answered. I can understand not wanting to read back through 20+ pages, but if it's a short thread, try reading all of it before butting in to make your point.

"I'm glad guns are illegal here in Ireland and the US should do the same"

Or similar to above people who get involved in threads and argue about something they have absolutely no clue about.

To be fair some people ask for a link to clarify one's point they are making.

If a person is claiming that what they saying is 100% true and that the other person is false, I think it's only fair for the perosn claiming that they know it all to provide a legit information/source to back this up.
rather then saying "google it" where googling it could give you 1000's + of results (mostly false info) depending on the topic.

"This might have been asked before but......"

Use the search function then and don't be so lazy, you took time to type out a question surely you had time to put it in the search bar.

Hate the "Cool story bro" one aswell, especially when used in a thread about a serious topic such as a disaster that's just happened.

People who do exactly what you just said just cause they think it is hilarious.......

And people (looking at you Gastroboy) who do exactly what you were just about to do but beat you to it.:D

    Short answer: provide a link!

Long answer: Absolutely. But when it's a simple case of 'damn. They're right. But I don't want to admit it', it's annoying. When I'm reading posts that are obviously presented by somebody demonstrating a good knowledge of a topic, and some clueless numpty takes them on with a 'provide a link' jab, that's annoying.

When someone creates a thread similar to one that was made a few months ago and a poster says something like 'Welcome to 3 months ago idiot'

Not everyone follows every single thread on the forum.

People who say 'Behave Yourself' when not agreeing with their point of view. I wouldn't mind it being said in a way of 'thats f'ing stupid, but after saying it the first way it makes me think the person must have sore balls from being so far up the high horse!

'Down with this sort of thing'
    'A great bunch of lads'
'Anything to be said for saying another mass'

As much as I love Father Ted I'm sick to death of the same f*cking quotes being posted over and over and over again.

'Should cyclists pay road tax threads'

Posters who start these should be sent back to Internet school.

It's also annoying when someone actually hasn't got a clue what they are talking about or referring to but will argue with you that they are 100% right in what they are saying "because they read it somewhere"
"it happened to a friend" or suddenly "there dad's best Friend's aunts sisters uncle's studied it" Therefor "you should just go and google it"
