    Has anyone had much success using pellet baits available in tackle shops or should I stick with maggots.will be targeting roach,perch etc.cheers

    Stick with your maggots and casters. If your trying for bigger fish then pellets through the groundbait can be very effective but depends on the species

    Sometimes you can catch Roach on pellets but they are mainly used to catch Carp, Tench and sometimes big Bream. I sometimes add micro pellets to my groundbait for Tench or Bream.

    Maggot, Caster, Worm and Sweetcorn are the best baits, in that order.

    I don't think there is a coarse fish out there that won't take one of those baits.
