New Car -7500 Budget

Hi Guys looking for a new car. Do around 350 to 450KM driving a week. Would like something that is easy enough on petrol/Diesel and if it has the cheap road tax even better. I'd like a saloon and doesn't matter really if its diesel or petrol. Would a Mondeo be the way to go?

Mazda 6 seems to get mentioned all the time as a good car around here. I think there nice and you would get a nice on for that money...

I've had an 07 Volvo s40 for the last 2 years and I still like it. Mine is a 1.8 petrol SE and has leather and a nice selection of toys and I get 8.0l/100km on my daily commute +/- 0.2 depending on how moody/zen I am.

You'll get a good 06/07 s40 for that money, through prices seem a little high.

Think 1.4 L is my max now. Only 22 have my full license a year. Insurance was pretty crazy on the 1.8 I rang up two insurers out of curiosity and the tax is quite a bit. Only have my own insurance six months . Am currently driving a 1.2 Punto. What 1.4L would ye recommend?

You might want to note that at the mo hatchbacks are going at a premuim, particularly relatively small engine size models.

Lower your budget for the car and spend the balance on the extra insurance and tax - they'll come down and then you won't be in a car you hate in 18 months time.

I passed my test after driving for 10 months and went and dropped 15k on a 1.4L focus, knowing sod all about cars other than I liked the MkII focus. 12 months later I loved the car but hated the engine.

Yea think I'll do that, so I'll drop budget to 5.5k. Would still like something easy enough on petrol though! Would like a saloon as well!
