It's been constantly on in the car since it came out. Each listen makes me enjoy a different song even more!

One For The Road is my song of the week.

Sit in a dark room on your own with a set of headphones and listen to Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not from beginning to end.

    You won't regret it.

Hmm I need some quiet time so I might just do that! Thanks :)

I don't know their previous albums but AM is stuck on my playlist for past 2 weeks. Can't get enough of it.

Never made a bad album imo. Humbug would be the last album I would listen to as a new fan, it's a album that requires a fair few listens. Start with the First two albums then SIAS then if you loved them get yourself on to Humbug. Check out their B-sides too as they one of the best bands today for cracking B-sides.

I rate the albums in this order

    1/ AM 10/10
2/ SIAS (their most underrated album for me) 10/10
    3/ WPSIATWIN 10/10
    4/ FWN 8.5/10
    5/ Humbug 8/10

It's the next single release from the album. They've some top singles from this era. The album has been played non stop since I got my hands on it, it really has set them up as a top band for good now.

I never really really got into "Suck it and See" for some reason. Tried loads of times but it just never did it for me. I like only about 3 songs off it. :(

It seems it splits people down the middle more then Humbug does, some people think it's the best thing they've done some are very iffy about it. I think it's underrated really.

"I play it on repeat until I fall asleep". AM is without doubt the best album of the year by a long way, it's great for a guitar based and self made band to easily blast away every other genre and manufactured band. Comparing AM to the Kings of Leon album there's a gulf between the two bands

They are on Jools Holland now. Already played R U Mine? But I'm sure they'll play one more before it's over.

Sh*te , missed it. What else did they play?

They played snap out of it as well. There is a longer version of the same episode being broadcast on friday around 11pm i think, it'll probably have another song from them.

Great album. My new favourite is "I want it all" def think there is some plagiarism "Arabella" very reminisant of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, americano vibe from album but still love it :D

Arabella is my favourite song on the album now.

Not sure about the RHCP bit though

Where you get the RHCP from? I thought Black Sabbath but not RHCP. Still listening to this constantly, dunno how many weeks its been now.

Arabella definitely "borrows" from War Pigs by Sabbath.

I think they also heard some Cuban hip hop before they wrote Knee Socks.

    Just found this on youtube:

Really crap interview at the start, I'm not sure if its because the interviewer is a dumbass or because Alex never seems to know what to say when people ask him questions!

He's always like that, and I got the impression that they weren't long out of bed before that gig. But if this is the first you've seen of them since 2006 then yes, things have changed, and for the better imo.

While I really, really like the new album, having listened to it a lot over the last few weeks I still rate 'Humbug' a bit higher. I can listen to that today and some of the songs haven't grated even a tiny bit, while I think songs like 'Why'd You Only Call....' have a certain short of lifespan that after a while I wouldn't play all that much, 'Mad Sounds' fall a little into that category for me too. It's a little more formulaic than 'Humbug'.

Was never a fan of Arctic Monkeys. Actually had a fairly large dislike for them when they were first around, mainly due to the hype machine around them. Some of their tunes have grown on me lately and I saw them and Electric Picnic and thought they were decent.

A friend of mine suggested I give A.M. a listen, as I'm a big qotsa fan and he reckons there's some influence there. Gotta say, I'm a big fan of this album. I love that slightly darker sound/feel you hear in songs like One for the Road and Why'd Do You Only Call Me When You're High. I went back and listened to some of their older stuff as I never did when it was first out, some decent tunes in there but I couldn't really get into it. Much prefer the sound of their new stuff, I dunno there's something much more mature about it that I like. The falsetto backing vocals should be really cheesy, but actually they're great.

Go listen to Humbug. Very few liked it on the first few listens but it grows on you. Still their best album imo.

AM Voted number 1 album of the year by Q and number 4 by Mojo at the end of year polls.

I take their debut, SIAS and AM over it but it's a important album that's for sure, it saved their career over the long term. Probably has one of their most underrated songs in Secret Door on it and probably one of their greatest songs in Cornerstone. Humbug is a great album but not their best album for me.

Sample of a B side to One For The Road which is their next single.

AM number 1 album of the year in NME, Number 9 in Uncut and Rolling Stones end of year polls.

Love the new B-side, these guys really write some stunners as B-sides.

The first minute of the b-side was quite good, then it tailed off quite a bit. Certainly not one of their better b-side efforts.
