Vixens or Dog Foxs doing the hunting??

Have a fox hassling my hens recently and I thought it was a dog fox, as in, hes out hunting while the little ladys at home suckling the kids, but everytime I mention it to someone they go "ahh, that'll be the vixen!!" So is it the vixen that does the hunting? does the dog fox hang around at all after the cubs are born??…

it doesnt matter if you eliminate the dog or bitch if there's a den of cubs to be fed either one will hunt for them.
