    Hi,

I want to add a spool valve to the rear of a mf265 so that I have the ability to operate the lift whilst powering a hydraulic motor on a rear attachment......without any delay or loss of power to either lift or motor.

What do I need and what are the likely costs ect....should I just give it into a garage to get it sorted....?

    cheers cc30.

I don't know if I am correct, but on the older MF's you cannot have a spool valve operate at the same time as the lift is raising or lowering. It's either one or the other at a time. I think it's the same for the 265, but could be wrong as we have never owned one.

Could the motor be run from the pto?

If not, you could get a hydraulic pto pump

    thanks relig,

I think ur right, those pto pump/motors are expensive......might go back to plan (A).....a PTO Shaft....I have sourced on old topper.

I know on our 265 you can only operate rear linkage or the aux hydraulic. You have to transfer hydraulics with lever under seat and raise lever for linage to top to pump oil on the hydraulic.

You can add a second hyd pump into tractor and operate both separately then. I know man has this done in a 135. Good job but a bit of work involved. As for the spool you can probably add a slice to the valve block I did this to a 290.

I drove a ford 4600 years ago that had a hedge cutter pump directly mounted to the crankshaft front pulley - if you very good on the spanners it's possible for a DIYer, a second hand hedge cutter would donate all the parts except possible the hoses to run from the pump at the front of the machine to the spool valves at back.

Another friend had a 1970's JD, I can't remember the model but it was the generation that had the power steering & 4wd (I think) ran off the machine hydraulics.
Heavy loader work meant she wouldn't steer so they got a PTO shaft extension made (female to extended length male spline) and welded a pulley onto the "new" PTO shaft. That pulley and chain drove a hydraulic pump mounted up behind the cab, which in turn supplied the loader valve chest. If they were using the loader they'd run the PTO and if they needed to run something on the 3-pt linkage with a PTO the machine shaft connected directly on to the "new PTO" and the machine ran like normal - even though the pulley was driving the hydraulic pump they had designed a return to the tank and a cooler so it never overheated
