I'm looking for a wireless handheld digital voice recorder for meetings and I'm hoping you boardsie's could give me an idea of what's good and what to avoid.

My main concern is getting one which will pick up sound from a distance across the room and possibly with people talking over each other. From looking online I have seen Olympus and Sony mooted a fair bit. My price range is roughly €120-50.

If any poster could give me some advice or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated :)

The best one I have found is the Zoom H2. Quality is excellent and has lots of suitable settings for different situations, i.e, shows, conversations, meetings, and its is digital stereo, or surround. Another which is handy, mono, the quality is a lot less but the sensitivity is good is the Olympus Digital Voice Recorder VN-100. If it is for Radio or TV I would go with the Zoom h2. You can buy either on ebay.
    Cheers.

I have a recorder and my phone and to be honest there is very little, if any, difference between the two so I'd recommend that you download an app for a recorder and test it out. Just leave it sitting on your desk and record for one or two minutes and check to see how much it has recorded. If it works alright you'll save a 100 quid. If it doesnt work perfectly than look to buy a recorder

I haven't got a smartphone at the minute and don't plan on getting one for the foreseeable future so this option is out. Thanks anyhow. :)

Zooms are great - I have a H4 and it's really great quality... (the only problem I've had with it was when airport security thought it was a taser).

From what I gather the H2 (or H2N as it is now) is just as good quality-wise; the main difference is it doesn't have the same mic input options, which probably isn't a big deal for what you want.

Thomann have it for €145 - you might find it cheaper elsewhere: http://www.thomann.de/ie/zoom_h2n.htm

I had a mid-level Olympus dictaphone and it was fine too - but as frostie500 says it wouldn't differ much from what a voice recorder on a phone would offer.
