Folks, for some reason i only twigged it today, that a Sunwing b738 flew from Quebec to Dublin. i didn't think the 737 800 was allowed to do this? i know BA fly a A318/9 ETOPS to JFK but i didn't think a 738 could something in the same vain. is it etops 120? thus by keeping close to Greenland then Iceland it stay's with in its capability's?

Sorry if this is a newbie question.

737s have been ETOPS capable for a very long time, should an airline want to get ETOPS certified on them. Sun Country used to operate 737s TATL to Gatwick with a fuel stop. I also think ETOPS is required to get to Hawaii from the US mainland.

I happened to be talking to a Czech pilot for Travel Service. He was telling me they operate flights from Prague to Cancun during the winter on a 160 seat 737. Roughly 5 hours to the Azores and 7 more to Cancun.

There are differing levels of ETOPS and a load of factors affecting how many minutes this operator could be approved for.

It may well have flown a non etops routing i.e., within 60 minutes of an adequate airfield.

The same company also operate 737's to Bangkok from both Prague and Budapest with a fuel stop-over in Dubai.

That's got to be rough going comfortwise! Although it shows that Ryanair could do if they wanted.

According to wikipedia they have a range of 6,340 miles much more than the United airlines 757s.

They dont do that. They go straight across ryanair ferry planes from seattle straight to dublin nonstop.
