Some good exercises outlined on this website:

If you're not interested in building muscle then do the weight exercises outlined in the webpage above with low weights and high reps, focus more on exercises with the gym ball (shoulders A,T,Y is pretty good).

Also, if you're in the Dublin area there is a surf-fit class every Wednesday in Crumlin. Did it last year for a few weeks, was pretty good:

May be other ones around the country, think there was one near Dun Laoighaire.

Taylor Knox has a dvd which uses a swiss ball specifically...it's very good for core strength & mimicking twisting & turning like you would on a board on a wave....called Surf Exercises.

I use that along with doing Insanity...yes that workout you've seen on the TV commercial! Builds lean muscle, strips the fat away, gives you strong legs & shoulders and because it's all max interval stuff, it's great for when you catch a wave then have to paddle back out, very much like a max interval set.

Yoga helps too, again with stretching, twisting and it definitely helps prevent injuries.

I have in the past tried the surf stronger dvd...it's not great tbh. And also Total Surfing Fitness website...the course moves are good, but I find the Insanity/Taylor Knox swiss ball stuff much better. All this stuff is done in your home, which I prefer having done the whole going to the gym for years.

I havent tried it yet because Im still recovering from a broken foot but there are surf fitness classes being run that seem quite good out in Dun Laoighre during the week https://www.facebook.com/SurfFitIreland?fref=ts

Really want to check them out when I get better. Yoga will be helpful for stretching and twisting alright. Going to check out the Taylor Knox DVD myate thanks for the tip.

I used the P90X dvd last year which is similar to insanity and it was great. Fell out of doing it though.
