DPM requirement for Suspended FLoors

Can anybody clarify if a DPM/radon barrier is essential in suspended floor construction?

If there is a vented void of 150mm between the underside of the suspended floor and the top of the concrete sub floor should this not be enough to dissipate any rising moisture or gases?

I've seen details where a DPM/RB has been included beneath the conc. sub floor, others in the suspended floor build up and others where it has been omitted altogether so I'm a bit confused as to the exact requirement

    Cheers!

The need for a radon barrier is determined more by where the house is rather than by the type of floor. For example, if the house is being built in a High Radon Area then a barrier is required under the Building Regulation. You can view the High Radon Areas on www.rpii.ie. Technical Guidance Document C, published by the Dept of Environment, sets out what is required for radon prevention in new build. This is published on the building standards page of the Dept’s website. www.environ.ie

OP, have a look at this thread.

ASlthugh RPIIre above alludes to a DPM being "good enough" i would argue that if you are building new, a radon barrier is an absolute must. Under no circumstances do i specify anything less on a new build.

Radon is the second biggest cause of lung cancer. There was a house in Galway where the radiation dose from Radon was the equivalent of 13 chest xrays per DAY.

Think the barrier is a good
