You will most likely need a US address for it. And I would say you will be able to download the App on a non US device.

DirecTV only works in the states so it'll be no use over here.

I'm sure you could pay the five or so Euro a month it'd take to get a good quality US proxy line TunnelBear and have at it. I'd definitely order the US version of Madden 14 on PS3 (the console is region free) through Amazon.com so I at least have that option. It's only with the 99.99$ anniversary edition so that'd be the real food for thought. There's workarounds for everything else and if you have a good internet connection and no Sky Sports it'd work out far, far cheaper.

The only real sticking point I can see is if the Sunday Ticket registration can tell your credit card is non-US.

From signing up for direcTV with my missus in the US I am almost sure when you log into the app you have to provide account login in details. And to get an account you need to provide a US address and Credit card. I am sure DirecTV have covered all their bases on this one.

Also reading on a TV forum earlier the part where it says its free to those who cant access DirecTV many of these guys reckon they mean locations in the US that have no coverage in their area and US territories. So if the proxy idea worked and this part was true you would have to make sure the IP address is in a location in the US DirecTV isnt available. There was also talk of a capped amount of free acounts of 50k also.

Be interesting to see if there is ways around it. All I know is my NFL coverage is sorted from Sept onwards.

Option 3 reads "For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel."

...which indicates you can get the season ticket for the year on all your devices without being signed up to DirecTV proper. You would have to set up a US account on iTunes/Google Play to get the actual apps to use it on mobiles and tablets but that's entirely possible.

A lot of times with credit cards you can put any address in and it'll accept it (Amazon.com being a prime example) but a couple of weird ones (such as Tesco Direct) require it to be an in-country card to register.

I don't really know how deeply DirecTV would check your IP to see if it matches an area without coverage (which in itself is fraught with plenty of problems) but it's certainly worth watching out for on fan forums to see what becomes of this.

As I said there was talk of this being for US folk who don't have access to DirecTV in their Area i.e bad area coverage wise or Territories.

The reason the talk is going like this is because of option 1:
    1. For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.

Which would suggest that if your address or area can avail of DirecTV you will only be given a discount.

Also even with a code they make you sign up to an account on the mobile apps or make you log in with already created DirecTV details. I have the app on my tablet. The code will most likely be entered like a promo code on checkout or something along those lines.

Someone will probably find ways around it but I am telling you what I read and know.

All I want is a game pass app on the Xbox. Would be so much easier than hooking up the laptop to the TV. It would also mean I would watch NFL Network quite a bit more as it would be easier just to throw it on then having to do it via the laptop.

To be honest this Sunday Ticket tie in leads me to believe that we will at least get a game pass app on the xbox next season. At present the NBA, MLB and NHL all have apps that international users can access. And the fact that Sunday ticket and NFL have come to an agreement with Microsoft on this leads me believe that we will see gamepass on xbox next season.

I'd love a cheaper gamepass for buying Madden but I wouldn't be too sure that would happen, but this is all good news to me.

I think it'll definitely be included on the new Xbox. The question is - will we be able to use it in Ireland? We always seem to draw the short straw over here compared to our American counterparts.

As you have mentioned other sports that international users can access, hopefully this will be the same :)

    From yesterday's Xbox announcement @ http://news.xbox.com/2013/05/xbox-reveal-xbox-joins-forces-with-the-nfl
This year’s football season just got a whole lot more exciting. At the Xbox Reveal event today, Xbox announced a multi-year, landmark partnership to introduce exclusive, interactive NFL television experiences for Xbox One.

The NFL is the most popular sport in North America and the most-watched program on TV. With 25 million people playing fantasy football, NFL fandom has never been more fevered. With Xbox One, Xbox will be delivering a new era of interactive TV and reinventing the way fans experience the NFL.

For fans, the NFL and Xbox will offer the most complete way to enjoy the game. The NFL on Xbox will provide fans an all-new viewing experience through innovations around Skype and SmartGlass, an all-new innovative fantasy football solution allowing fans to view players and live competition side-by-side on a single TV screen, and a personalized NFL destination featuring information about the players, teams and games fans care about most. Xbox will also enable fans to use SmartGlass technology to enhance game day.

“When we started working with Roger Goodell and the team at the NFL we knew that we could create great new experiences that fans would love,” said Don Mattrick, President IEB Division at Microsoft. “This partnership will redefine NFL experiences through exclusive and interactive content that you will find only on Xbox. For fans, the NFL on Xbox will provide the most complete way to enjoy live football by bringing the first fully-integrated fantasy football experience to the TV, exclusively through Xbox Durango.”

With the NFL on Xbox, you will be able to see your NFL team integrated with your large-screen TV, play fantasy football alongside the game, get real-time feedback about what's going on in the game, see stats and updates, and taunt your friends with you success – all from within one experience.

NFL coaches and players will also soon have access to a variety of cutting-edge Microsoft products including Surface tablets to enhance on-field communications, photo viewing, and play-calling.

“From the use of instant replay to the yellow first-down line that has become an important element of the at-home television viewing experience, the NFL is committed to leveraging technology to improve our game for coaches, players and fans,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “We’re thrilled to be teaming with a true innovator like Microsoft to shape the future of the NFL game experience both on-field, and in the living room.”

Our CEO Steve Ballmer said, “We love the passion that players, coaches and fans bring to the NFL game; it’s what makes the NFL game-day experience so unique,” said Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO. “We’re excited to apply our passion for technology to the NFL experience, both on the sidelines through the innovative use of Microsoft Surface devices, and for fans through an enhanced NFL viewing experience on Xbox Durango.”

There's never been a better time to be a fan in the NFL. Or a fan of Xbox.

Looks brilliant, but I'm not optimistic about it coming to Ireland, We're very limited when it comes to apps on the Irish marketplace. The US already has Xbox apps for Baseball and NBA, but reading this seemed a bit bigger than just a normal app partnership, and because it's dealing directly with the NFL it could go around licensing laws. I'd be delighted if it was released globally, if it's worldwide I'll definitely be picking up a new console. Still not too hopeful though. No mention of it on the web yet though so there's always hope . . .

This would be great, i could actually watch the Titans play each week instead of bits on redzone and then the 1 game per year they get on Sky.

I'm hoping its all coming :D
