Has anyone experience or advice regarding a student using a Word Processor to do Leaving Cert exams?

Yea, I supervised one last year. It's straight-forward enough. You just have to make sure their laptop is not connected to the internet and at the end you have to both print their work and save it to a USB. The USB then needs to be wrapped in bubble-wrap and labelled.

I'm wondering if you printed or the student?
Is it ok to print halfway through just as a 'backup' in case something goes horribly wrong towards the end?

I just let the student print it but in this case, it didnt involve any hassle. Student just had to click print. It didnt involve any moving to another room, etc.

Students are advised to continually save their work as they go. I havnt heard of printing every now and then, just at the end.

I once had an exam supervisor tell me that I had to set up the laptop, and printer and be around in case anything went wrong. I was also expected to do the printing and saving to usb. They had it in their head that because I was the IT person in the school then I had to do it. My problem was that I was on my summer holidays!

I hope you told them where to go....

Just wondering what the set up is with exam supervisors? I typed the junior cert and I was on my own supervised by one of the teachers in the school, and I'm wondering if it'll be the same with the leaving cert? Or do they treat the LC differently?

It will probably be the same again, your school will appoint someone (maybe a teacher or another member of staff) to supervise you. Then your exam usb or disk will be put in to a special envelope and given to the superintendent in the main exam centre. Verify with your principal to be certain :)
