In short no, you can twice the quality for half the price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,516 ✭✭✭Outkast_IRE

    Sennheiser superior in my opinion.
Beats arent that good, they are just a fashion accessory.

The idea of spending more than 50 or 60 quid on earphones to listen to highly compressed mp3's is ridiculous. The bass and noise cancellation quality can be gotten for a fraction of the price.

To be honest I'd prefer Guiney's own brand head phones. Cost 50 cent but they do a job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,740 ✭✭✭kingtiger

    simple answer is NO

do yourself a favour and get decent pair of Sennheisers or comparable top end headphones

even a 50 quid pair of Sennheisers are better than €200 Beats

You can get a pair of these for the same price and they are so much better

    Beats are highly overrated.

If you have good quality MP3 (ok most don't) most people can't hear the difference between than an lossless. I assume what you are saying is most people who buy these beats won't have bothered to get descent source material be it Mp3's or lossless.

They seem to be the accessory of choice in gyms. Seen a guy doing shoulder work the other day with them on and I just hoped that he'd break them with the weights. Stupid looking headphones.

Its a fashion thing not a music thing.

Beats were created by Monster, and Monster have made a business out of ripping people off since the beginning of digital communications. Dre should be ashamed for teaming up with them. As others have said, do some research as you can get much better for much cheaper.

Overpriced for what you get, but then again most things in fashion are overpriced.

OP, what's with the all caps titles?

€200 for headphones? No thanks...€2 in poundworld will get the job done.

    €500 for a phone?..No Thanks...Nokia 3210 ftw.

Completely agree. Just don't agree you have to spend €200 to get a really nice set.

I have a good pair I wear at my desk but I can't wear them out and about as they're way too big.

Just have the standard samsung in-ear ones that I use when walking and it's awful really.

You can get good headphones for ~ 100 euro, it all depends on how much you listen to music as to whether going above the 100 euro mark is worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,737 ✭✭✭✭kylith

I splashed out around €20 on a pair of Marley earbuds, and they're great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,576 ✭✭✭garv123

Have to laugh at most people who own them. They pay 2-300 euro for them and then used them to listen to songs they downloaded with a youtube converter that downloads crap mp3's with the volume all over the place.

I automatically think less of someone wearing Beats.
If you're really REALLY into your music you may spend 150 on casual listening headphones - But if you're really really into your music you won't use Beats.
As said above - Sennheiser. Only way to go.

It really is, I have a paid of Sennheiser headphones for watching movies on as I mostly watch stuff in bed at night, great for blaring the volume without disturbing anyone. and a pair or ear bud ones as well for at work or on the go, they cost 40 quid in hmv and they sound great for what I need them to, cheap headphones are crap.

What I hate is people who have an iPhone and beats and then go around claiming that they're both the best and better than anything else. While I'm just there with my Xperia z and akg headphones costing a sum total of 280. While they spent over a grand for their combination.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,576 ✭✭✭garv123

I bought a pair of 25euro sennheiser headphones recently and use them for watching stuff on the laptop and the volume is fine on them. They're not very loud if im in that kind of form for that kind of music but for everything else they're good and comfortable.

Beats are €100euro plus for the name alone.

I got a pair of these in Xtravision recently for €20. Good sound and they're comfortable to wear.

How anyone can justify spending €200 on a pair of headphones is beyond me. I can somewhat understand people spending more than that on a good phone, because you can do a lot more with a powerful phone, but something that is essentially a fashion accessory?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,848 ✭✭✭Andy-Pandy

I do love a good pair of earphones and own a couple of quality pairs. These are my favourite for walking around and piss on anything by Beats. For the price you get a top quality product. These are my home set, and once again piss over anything by beats. There are other great sets of headphones/earphones for around the same price as beats, they all "beat" them hands down in terms of quality and if its important to you, looks.

SennHeizers are overated imo. Dr. Dre gives you cocaine and hookers for buying them.
