Overall, thought it was a good show but too many little annoyances to make it great.

The matches were all good, and in nearly them all, the right person won.

I hope Ryback addresses the fact he pretty much won the match but for some reason, the ref wouldn't count Cena down. I also really, REALLY will get angry if Cena laughs off the ending and is dancing round tonight.

Brock vs HHH was grand, though I think the show should have ended when Brock was celebrating at the top of the ramp. I really disliked the visual of Hunter walking away at the end of the show. That's an ending for a feud that's not really over, in a "Brock still hasn't kept him down" way. That should be the feud over, and as such, I feel Brock should have won, and HHH stayed lying on the mat as the show went off air.

Kaitlyn came across as the heel in the backstage segment with AJ. She insults AJ, calls her names and when AJ responds, she gets attacked from behind

Thrilled The Shield won titles. Should freshen them up a bit. Wonder what happens Bryan now though.

    6/10

A show that will really be defined, imo, by how they handle Raw tonight...

Unlike most, I didnt really care who won the main event as I have no interest since the matches have sucked thus far. However, I was a little annoyed at the lengths to which Triple H went in order to allow himself be beaten. It took way too much and made Lesnar look weak, especially when he needed the help of Heyman and a sledgehammer to the head.

Cena vs Ryback showed how to book an unstoppable monster. I'm not a fan of Ryback but he came out looking great. Didnt matter what Cena did, he just kept getting back up.

The ending of Swagger vs Del Rio was painfully obvious. Decent enough match otherwise. Sheamus vs Henry suffered from an awful stipulation. Strap matches are almost never good. Shield matches were good, but they are capable of much better, especially when the likes of Daniel Bryan is on the other side of the ring. Fandango sucks. No two ways about it. Jericho deserves better. Orton vs Big Show was as expected, nothing to write home about but not awful. The AJ and Kaitlyn segment was good.

Extreme Rules is usually a great event, but it was lacking something this year. None of the matches were great, and a lot were just sorta there. Wonder if they were counting on the ladder match being the show stealer?

Exceeded expectations, better than Wrestlemania 29 as a whole.

Henry vs Sheamus was the only one that felt a bit boring.

Orton/Show was ridiculously good. I got excited when I thought we might see the punt again. It actually made me interested in Orton again.

Well Triple H was helped by HBK at WM and he did bring the sledgehammer into the match.

Good card let down by dodgy, illogical finishes for the main event scene but surpassed WrestleMania in my eyes (which, to be fair, wasn't that difficult to do).

I've been meaning to say, I'm surprised (pleasantly, mind) that Ambrose was the one chosen to get the singles title. I would have thought Reigns, as the monster and the guy who tends to be responsible for their six man tag wins, and who has the physique and style Vince usually loves, would have gotten that "honor". I also think Ambrose and Rollins would have suited each other more in terms of tag team style and looks.

But letting Ambrose be the individual champion in the group shows WWE obviously think he's got potential. So happy for him. Now I just hope he doesn't become another Champion Jobber...

Meanwhile, the most interesting line, imo, of the night came from Titus during the post-show preview. He alluded to the fact that as champions, The Shield will have the entire roster after THEM now. That's exactly what the group needs, storywise. Having the targets be on their backs could be a welcome change...

I had to laugh at HHH trying to get the standing ovation again (like Summerslam) and when it wasn't coming they just threw on his music.

The full ppv is now on YouTube if you have not seen it yet.

Cena/ryback match was the best. I guess we well have a rematch by the two guys again

Since now (hopefully) the Lesnar-HHH feud is over and Lesnar will disappear for a while, I wonder what Heyman will do? I'd like it if they went with Ryback claiming he'd been screwed out of it by the ref not counting and decided to hire Heyman to help him get what he deserves

Even then i'm not bothered. Glad Lesnar had enough of a hand to defeat the part time HHH in the blowoff match(they can't continue it they just can't). Was AJ vs Kaitlyn cut due to time constraints?

Cena and Ryback's match was a surprise as it was actually good, much better than Cena's matches with The Rock imo

i get annoyed by the booking of HHH as much as the next guy, but I had no problem with that last night whatsoever.

a heel Lesnar, on one leg, was never going to defeat HHH clean. now, i hear some of you saying, "well, he was booked to be half injured. why bother? just have him decimate HHH."

i would honestly argue that this was better.

    1) most importantly, Brock wins the rubber match.
    2) you get Heyman over as a legitimate nuisance at ringside who can affect results.
    3) Brock sold that leg like a champion. the fact he sold it so well actually made his victory a little epic. that aspect was so key to the whole story. also, his facials were amazing. his animalistic roars were brilliant. he looked proper terrifying. just a super performance from him.
    4) he didn't sneak out the cage. he won, in the middle of the ring, with an F5.

so after last night, you genuinely have a resilient monster, who gets help from his manager to further help him win. i think they've somewhat succeeded in making the Brock/HHH team look formidable, thus rehabilitating him from the nonsensical Cena loss from last year, when it took one chain shot and an AA on some steps to beat him.

job done IMO, if they follow it up properly.

That towel finish was a great idea wasted a bit though with the restart

I agree with your post in theory, Slick. I just don't think how you're portraying it added up with how WWE actually did on the show.

For one, if it had been an injury inflicted by HHH, be it on Raw last week or even on the PPV, and they used it to play up the "Cereberal Assassin" moniker, it would be one thing. Instead, it was self-inflicted by Brock in a move that made him look like an idiot in my opinion. That's twice in 4 matches now he's gone for that same move, whatever it is, and nearly killed himself and cost himself the match. Worse, HHH had been bounced off the cage 5 or 6 times at that point and was fine; Brock's leg hits it once and he sells it like he's been shot.

Furthermore, the whole "Winning while injured" is a face thing. But that only continues WWE's problem over the last month of doing nonsensical booking of faces as heels (Sheamus, Kaitlyn) and heels as faces (Ryback, Brock). The only way an injury like that should play into that match with Brock as heel and HHH as face is if HHH capitalizes on it to win. The face takes advantage of the injury to win the match and overcome the odds. The heel should not overcome the odds. You say the victory was epic. He's a heel. It shouldn't be epic. If anything, it should be cheap and make people dislike him. An injury like that usually makes characters sympathetic, and unless the plan to turn Brock face, should never have played such a big role in the match.

I don't have a problem with the fact he didn't destroy HHH, mind. HHH is a vet of the industry so shouldn't be a walk over. That said, I didn't like the fact HHH kicked his ass on Monday and then suddenly needed a fluke injury to stand a chance against him. WWE seemed to flip-flop on whether HHH was a match for Brock or not in the space of a week; on Monday, he pretty much handed Brock his ass and sent him running, and on Sunday, he needed Brock to kill himself to stand a chance.

I agree it's good he won, and did it in the middle of the ring. Overall, that's whats important since that's all that will be remembered. But the constant attempt to get cheers (using other people's finishers, the whole walking out after the match) is kind of pathetic, and I just don't think the match did much for either man except for the result...

Yesterday I heard Cena is retiring, 6 weeks to a operation then back for 1 more mania, or is that all bollocks?

    Quite enjoyed last night.

    Really, really doubt it.

Slamming your knee into the cage after running and flying through the air would leave your knee in 'bits' and made perfect sense. Getting your body or head slammed into the cage happens in all cage matches and is never made out to be a match making moment. Slamming a weight bearing limb into it though should be a match changing moment.

Overall I thought it was a really good match and Brocks performing as a pro wrestler was top notch. HHH has real guts getting in the ring with him three times as Brock genuinely likes to fight and use plenty of force.

Thought the cage match was utterly brilliant, Brock sold amazingly. Really happy with that event.

Had to laugh at the Kaitlyn/AJ segment. Not for the dialogue or anything like that but for the way Kaitlyn was using her hands just to emphasise her chest, the way a guy would when talking about a woman's boobs.

I've a big problem with the main event.

How the fúck is this a legitimate 10-count and what happened Sunday night not? Some of us have a memory.

Because they booked themselves into a corner and didnt want either man to lose. Should have at least counted both men down instead of just calling it off, even though Ryback got back up.
