Is it too late for ombre?

I know that it shouldn't matter if something is in fashion or not but is it a bit late to be jumping on the ombre bandwagon? Just saying this as I've been growing out my hair for about a year and I've mixtures of red at the ends that I'll eventually cut anyways.
