Right, I wouldn't know much about the insides of cars, but just got the car back form a routine service, and this was pointed out to me. (see attached pic)
The breeder pipe or tube connection is missing. Now, doesn't make a difference to how the car has been performing, but another part for me to get before my NCT!!

You can see the connection is missing. Now, it's a small part I could pick up easily at a breakers yard I reckon.

Also, 5,000 miles short of a needing a new timing belt. 140,000K up on the car. (05 turbo diesel)

Add this to the other things I need to fix before NCT -

    electric window switch
    horn in car working intermittently
service light won't turn off on dash
    electric window roller off set
    headlight holder needs fixing
    starter screeching

Sick of it at this stage!! Do I just get it through the NCT and keep going with it until it drives no more....:(

Going back to college for a year in September, so changing it for a fancy dan car won't be an option. I know of people with old cars that just seem to run. I seem to have the worst luck with this sh*tbox...

I think that missing piece is just the intake into the bottom of the airbox.. it should be there, but i very much doubt it would be an nct fail tbh, it just provides a supply of cooler air from the little scoop on the front bar.

The pipe that's missing is of no consequence to either the NCT or the running of the car so you can stop worrying about that.

The other issues are all fairly minor although a sign of a car that was badly looked after previously as they aren't common problems with the Astra.

The great thing about Opel/Vauxhall is that parts, even new, are cheap as chips generally so I don't see why any of the issues would be a reason to be talking as if the car was on its last legs.
