Cold water shaving

This morning I tried a cold water shave for the first time. I'd been curious about it for a while, but with the temperatures in the high 20s today where I am, I decided it was time to give it a go.

The only change I made from a regular hot water shave was that I lathered up with a Palmolive shave stick and let it sit there for a minute, before shaving normally with Proraso.

The result was an extremely comfortable shave, and a little closer than I have ever gotten with hot water. I did not use any post-shave product and my skin feels absolutely fine. Using hot water I usually need to use a post-shave balm to get rid of tightness.

The only problem was that I did cut my neck. I don't know if it was down to the cold water or just a coincidence, but it's the first time in months.

If I keep getting similar results I don't think hot water shaving will be a very common thing for me any more.

So has anyone else tried it? If not, I would definitely give it a go.

I like to have a cold water shave in the winter. Its a great way to wake yourself up fully on those dark mornings.
