Hi I fitter new sanitary ware in my bathroom a few weeks ago, all taps worked fine, but I turned off Hot and cold feeds from supply tank in attic to fit a tap in WC on the ground floor, when finished I opened the valves hot and cold water came to all taps except one in the main bathroom. It is a mixer tap, and only a small dribble comes from tap whether in hot or cold position. I tried opening the feed to tap and water flowed, but when tightened still no water from tap. Do I have a air lock in my tap or is my tap faulty?

    Hi.
Not a plumber but I suspect that it is a UK standard tap. This meaning, afik, that they are spec'd for mains water pressure and we use header tank pressure for all our taps, except kitchen.

I do not believe it can be modified, so will need replacement.

Many get caught by these decent priced taps from EbayUK (I know another guy who also did :o).

Hope this helps and open to correction if I am wrong.

Edit. Sorry, just read your post again and see that it was a tap that was working okay before?
If so, debris or airlock. As on both hot and cold, may be debris close to spout. Is there a removable gauze at spout?

You don't explain it very well so this is my guess reading. You fit a new tap down stairs after a few weeks. When you switched the water back on and now the upstairs tap is blocked in the main bathroom.

Yes it could just be an air lock or it could be a blockage. Just google how to clear an air lock in a mixer tap and you should be sorted, you can take off the diffuser on the front of the tap and see if there is any dirt but I doubt it. It will just be a process of elimination.

I doubt the tap is faulty as it has worked well already. I suspect the air lock.

How do you go about unblocking an air lock in a mixer tap, do you have to take it off as I fitted the tap before I fitted the WHB as no room to get any wrench in at it when installed.
