Can anyone suggest a glue that I can use on completed yarn projects, so, to attach yarn to yarn, and also to attach decorative buttons and gems, but can then put through the washing machine, on a gentle cycle.
Have been using a glue gun with just regular glue sticks but the glue detatches after a few washes.

I'd be interested in the answer to this too. I saw a woolly hat pattern for a child (mislaid it now unfortunately) and it has two giant goggle eyes which it says to hot-glue on. Reading your post now, I doubt it would work. Not good for kiddies things.

I've been using hot glue, not for kids things, it's quick and easy to use but after a few runs through the machine it starts to separate.
I know sewing is the obvious alternative, but it just makes the process so much slower.
I'm sure there has to be a glue that works out there... somewhere!!

Stanley do a Super strength glue stick that might work better for you http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-GS500-Formula-II-Super-Strength/dp/B000I1QA4G

You could also try Tec-7 you can get it in most hardware shops like B&Q or woodies http://www.goodwins.ie/p-410-tec-7-clear-sealant-adhesive-310ml.aspx

Fabric glue should work for you, or thick/3D fabric paint (eg Tulip or Jones Tones) but heat and moisture will affect most adhesives so it will last longer if you wash on a cool cycle, inside out. Also, be careful if using a steam iron on glued object.
