If security are there, you're good to go. Ive often gone through 4 hours before a flight.

Whenever you want if you use the bag drop for any luggage you have and check in online.

Why you would want to spend so long there is another question.

So are there any times when security aren't there? My flight is at 6.00am so i am contemplating going to the airport the night before around 11pm and sleeping in the airport, so I don't have to get a taxi. Is this frowned upon?

Having to go to the airport the night before, might as well go through and relax at the right side of the barriers :)
    Yes it is.

Its not really in all fairness. Wrapping up in a sleeping bag on the resturants seats is though. If you get a seat at your gate, why not have a snooze?

How will he know which gate the flight is leaving from? By the time the gate number is posted, there's no time for snoozing!

Security at Dublin is closed for a few hours and reopens around 3am for early morning flights. Maybe this has changed though so best double check.

I've sleeped in the airport for a few hour before an early flight. Best tip for a nap is the chairs at Starbucks - well comfy

Ive known gate numbers to be posted early.
Anyway, theres always a seat to snooze in..somewhere.
Just make sure you set an alarm to get you up in time OP.

Security opens at 4am, both terminals, if you choose to sleep in the airport the night before, be sure to have your boarding card ready for Airport Police checks, the do them at night sometimes twice, if your flight is at 6am you be best of going thru security when it opens or very shortly after as ques will build!
    Happy travels OP

I am not sure what part of Ireland you are from but sounds like you are from around Dublin. Why you don't check the nightlink buses, they are few different companies that are operating. But if you decide you want to get there early and wait till your flight just wait at T2 at the Oak Bar (2nd floor)...it always seems to be full of passengers sleeping around the cafe ,as it does not open until 5am so would suit you perfectly. You can then walk over to T1 ( which takes no more than 10min).

Thanks for the suggestion, I live in south dublin. The aircoach route that used to go by where I live got cancelled. I'll check out the oak.

Dublin Airport really needs one of the pod hotels they have at gatwick and Heathrow. Its like 20 quid for 8 hours or something and you get a tiny little room near the area to departures and a bed

Look at this bus http://www.logonhopon.com/ it is used mainly by airport staff ,but Im sure you can take it as well nobody asks you questions as long as you book the day before by 9pm and top up your account. They usually come to your address ( durring the specified time) and give you a call once they are outside, as long as its part of their route. Check if they cover where you live or call them ...it is 5 unless they changed it.

Go to bed at 10pm get up at 3.30am relatively relaxed and take a taxi you tight sod. Why spoil a journey for the sake of €30

sure just stand at the bus stop anyhow and wait for one of the taxis who were so keen to rob passengers from the air coach.
No doubt their sense of social obgliation will mean they will bring you there for the same price as the defunkt aircoach that they illegally poached passengers from.
