My daughter is in this for the first time this year. I was just wondering about what the kit for this event is? I saw a few photos from last year's event and most children are barefoot, are participants required to be barefoot or is this a choice? I was going to buy her new trainers for it at the weekend, but if contestants are required to go barefoot there's no need.

Don't buy new trainers anyway. They will be running on grass - Páirc Uí Chaoimh, and if there is any bit of rain, they'll get ruined. Most runners go barefoot -by choice I think. They will probably get a bib/top from the school.

Thanks for the advice. It turns out she wants to go barefoot as her friends are going barefoot.
