Advice wanted: Change square taper BB to external cup BB

    Folks,
    I have a Giant Rapid 3 (2011 model) which currrently has an FSA Tempo triple with a (recently clicking) square taper BB (68mm BB shell)

    I want to replace the crank with an Ultegra 6600 double which comes with an external cup BB. This says 'BC 1.37x24 ROAD E1' on the cups and the distance between the inner faces of both cups when this crank is assembled loosely is 68mm.

    Assuming the existing BB an English thread, I plan to remove it, reface the BB shell faces with a block of wood and some emery paper (after stuffing the BB with old rags) and then fit in the new.

    Is it a straight forward swap or do I need to be aware of any differences in component sizing, Q factors etc.

    Its pretty much a straight swop. Tbh I wouldn't bother with re-facing unless there is a problem, just clean out the threads.
