Well after something ****ty happens to you, what's the best way to get over it and move on? Apart from drugs and alcohol that is...

P.S. Its not a break up or a personal issue. I know I'll get over this soon, just need something to clear my head for now...

Well that's just it isn't it. You gave little or no detail in your OP so how is anyone expected to suggest something to you when we don't know what happened!

A long walk out in the fresh air, a nice lunch, a movie and an early night might help.

I may go for a drive... Only thing is the NCT has expired and the closest test date is in July so I'm only taking out the car when its absolutely necessary...

If you have the booking letter you will be fine. The whole NCT system is creaking. I think the powers that be realise that.

Find something that fits your current mood (It doesn't necessarily have to relate to your situation). Watching a depressing film when you're depressed sort of recalibrates your brain, same with happy movies when you're happy, or music or a book or something like that. Trust me on this. Sounds counter-intuitive, but it's how your brain works.

Been playing videogames for the past while and now they just make me feel a little sick and like I'm just wasting my time...

I've got a movie cued up for the night though. Don't feel like watching one right now.

Good idea, just checked the nct website and found a free slot on the 27th of may so I guess I can use the booking letter...

make sure its not any of these

    Jerry (possibly Gerry)
    The United States of Leland
    Rain Man
    Good Will Hunting

I made the mistake of watching the last 3 back to back after a weekend of drinking for my 22nd birthday when i was still going on the Sunday night (everyone else had work monday) and those movies mixed with the DTs and general downer after 5 days on the sesh made me quite depressed

    Its Ponyo.
I've been on a Hayao Miyazaki streak lately. Everything of him that I watch ends up going straight in my Top 10 films! And I guess I can safely say Spirited Away is possibly the best film I've ever watched!

Oh, well in that case. Less drinking, ****, game playing, movie watching and illegal driving and a bit more studying should see things come right.

Repeats are not so bad! At least you've been given that chance, and you should have plenty of time to prepare for them (hopefully). Don't let it get you down. Go outdoors for a bit, do something else, and that feeling will go away after a day or two and you won't even realise it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,171 ✭✭✭af_thefragile

Well I've got 3 months now till the repeats so I've gotta make the most out of it.
I will acknowledge I did spend the past 2 months doing exactly the above (except for the illegal driving) and I've become and incessantly lazy bum which made the exam results sort of inevitable.

Now I've gotta change my mindset and I'm also quite sick of being a lazy bum. Its also made me quite unhealty and unfit so I've gotta mop up my life back together and move on.

In time you will realise that whilst this is a set back, that's what it is. So yes you have another year to do. Not planned but what's meant for you will not pass you. Have a good summer come back in Sept refreshed and knuckle down so you won't be in this place next year.

Is it a death you are trying to forget? When things get really hard , I pray. I'm a sceptic of religious stuff in normal mode, but when your head is really fried comfort can be found in faith.
