If so, what's the best route?

I used to commute Maynooth to Grand Canal Dock, so for Eastpoint, I'd stay on the quays past the IFSC and turn up at the Point/East Wall.
    Where are you starting from?

Either go up the quays, Northstrand and turn right at the Tolka(you'll need to dismount and cross with pedestrian lights) then up to the next bridge and turn left onto Alfie Byrne road and then into east point. The other option is to go through Fairview and then right after the railway bridge. Going by the Point or through Eastwall is also possible but the roads have more potholes. Potholes that cats vanish into.

Thanks for this. Coming in from Leixlip. Google maps is sending me up Dorset St > Clonliffe Road, but I had the quays in mind myself.
