    This happened earlier
Windows (1444) Windows: A request to read from the file

    "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Windows.edb" at offset 11042816

(0x0000000000a88000) for 8192 (0x00002000) bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time (60 seconds)

to be serviced by the OS. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for

    further assistance diagnosing the problem.

May not be related to this but today I had a Vista update 6 files that took an age to install and had I woke the PC from sleep mode before the crash, I have noticed the machine being a bit cranky after sleep periods, indeed I stopped using it for a while. It may not be related, just thought I'd mention it.

Have you tried to uninstall the last updates to see if that improves things? If it does, then install them back one by one and see where that leaves you.

I would back up your files, and run a diagnostic scan of your hard disk. That error appears to be reporting of disk accessing problems, it could be related to a faulty update, or a faulty piece of hardware
