Turn yourself in to the Vodafone police immediately you fiend.

Don't know if it's a crime but they could easily decide to seek the money back from you. More than likely they won't be able to but to be on the safe side it's probably best to fake your own death at this point.

So long as you didn't do anything to manipulate the system, it's their fault for forgetting to charge you.

It's the same if Amazon ships two of an item instead of one..... it's yours to keep lawfully.

It's Hitler and the Nazi's fault, OP.

Quick - edit your post and change the amount your account is showing in credit.

Too easy for Vodafone to check all prepaid accounts with a specific balance left.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 235 ✭✭Username99

You better send me that phone so I can dispose of it properly, don't want you getting into trouble.

    Also, fraud is a crime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

Well, someone from Vodafone will spot this, mention it in house where they'll search a pre-pay account that has that amount you mentioned and hasn't topped up in 8 months :pac:

OP happened me before with meteor. They sent me a bill for over €500. Refused to pay, took me to the small claims courts and they won. Had to pay the guts of 1k.

Are you only calling other Vodafone numbers?

If not, you can auction off your sim card for a few quid!

Yeah, but in Ireland, you'll only get done depending on who you are/know.

According to his profile the OP has no friends on boards, so looks like he's screwed.

I don't think they can take a consumer to the Small Claims Court, are you sure you don't mean the District Court?

just checked in the cathechism, it's not a crime, but it is a sin, but not a mortaller, Phonensus Freecallus, so carry on, confess within six months, have some minor masturbatory stuff also taken into account, and all will be well.

    Yep that's the one I meant! ;)

OP forgot to mention the judge barred me for using a phone for 3months.

But if it's a pre-paid pay-as-you-go phone then how will they find him? I don't remember giving my own name and address when buying one, though that was years ago, so do you know if they ask? I know I definitely didn't give any form of ID, and if I was asked for an address I wasn't asked to prove it (utility bill, etc) and I don't live there any more anyway. So how did they catch up with yourself?

I was gonna say the same thing!

Open a thread in the talk to forum. Just say "I need your help". It will take them a month or two to answer you. They will probably respond with "how can I help". So, take the same amount of time to respond to them, saying something like, "I have a problem with my phone". Another 1-2 months for a reply.

At this stage it will be between 3-6 months later. If you keep up with the vague posts, you could get another 5 years of free calls. Safe in the knowledge that you done your civic duty in contacting your network supplier.

    Your welcome :)

Really, according to the legislation and rules governing the Small Claims Courts a business cannot sue a private individual through the Small Claims Court, the can only sue another business which supplied them with goods or services.
    Nice try though!

I wouldn't draw attention to myself like this OP. If its on the Vodaphone thread, you can be sure there is a Vodaphone employee trawling through your previous posts to see if they can get a clue of who you might be, as we speak...

On prepay?! How? When I signed up for vodafone they asked my first name and no address. On their website it shows my address as Ireland and only my first name.

Hope this free credit thing happens to me. Just gotta get lucky now.

Is the phone registered? You know when you give your details to get your free credit? All details are stored then.

I haven't. Well in that case OP, fair play to you. Nice to hear of one person getting one up on the phone companies. 20 years ago, we used a code on the white pay phones which allowed us free calls anywhere in the world.
Its just not the same kick anymore with Skype.

I thought , that all Prepaid SIM cards "expire" ; if you don't topup at least every 6 months .

Same thing happened to my mother about 15 years go with Digifone (I think that's what they were called). The phone just let her run her credit into the negative for months. They eventually sent her out a bill for about £800. She ignored it, stopped using the phone and nothing else ever came of it.

Of course that doesn't prove that they can't come after you, just at the very least the never bothered to pursue my mother.
