    Hi Everyone

We were let down for someone to do our wedding cake at the weekend. We had a limited budget and I'm looking to get any suggestions for wedding cake companies who might be good value. The wedding is on the 6th July in Galway.

    Thanks in Advance

Have you tried M&S? They do wedding cakes but as far as I know only fruit ones in Ireland.

Is there a catering college near you? Perhaps you could find a student to do one for you for a bit of money and experience?

    Or

Try making your own! Some ideas here. Maybe you can make a pile of cupcakes or just have something like a tea party with a selection of cakes?

Would you try making your own? I done my sister in laws and my own wedding cake and it wasn't too bad. I have done loads of birthday cakes etc before but it doesn't have to be that stressful if you are well prepared. Im in Galway too so PM me if you have any questions or want receipe ideas.

Most bakeries can do large size cakes to your requirements. As long as you don't make them fancy tired cakes, they shouldn't be too expensive.
In Galway there's O'Connell's, Goyas, Griffin's Bakery and the Cupcake Bakery can do cupcakes as a poster suggested.

Or try a professional, give them your budget and see what they can do for that amount.

Bit of a trek but I'd recommend Bake Away in Killaloe.

As Gatica said, state your budget and see what they can do for you.

    Thanks Guys

I'm looking at the option of a small wedding cake with 200 cupcakes (going to make it our dessert also). I have a budget of approx €400.

You're serving the cupcakes as dessert? Do you mean instead of any other dessert or after dessert with the tea and coffee. Not sure if that is as economical as it should be, often heard of people trying this but the hotel having a set price for the meal anyway.

We are not having our wedding in a hotel. Going to have the cupcakes as dessert.

You should have no problem getting a cake for €400 budget. How many guests are you having? We're having 160 guests and our cake is costing €250

If you're having cupcakes you could make them yourself, maybe rope in the bridesmaids and have a baking day?
