Looking forward to Babel or Hangout what ever its going to be called.
Seen on android police that their is a rumour their could be a galaxy S4 google version.

Seems like a lack of hardware this year, I would guess Google Tv would be something they will try to push.

There was a video of a white nexus phone the last couple of days. So that would probably be true.

The spotify like service seems like a cert, which would be amazing and a blow to spotify if they can do it correctly.

Interested in seeing anything about the X phone, new Nexus 7 and seeing if they bring back the Nexus Q.

Looking forward to the update on Google glass too.

And there's been rumours of an Evil Android (Non open source), I don't expect Google to announce anything regarding this but it would be interesting if there's any hints of it throughout I/O.

Their streaming music service, similar to what Spotify have, is rumoured to be announced.

Also the Google maps with personalised layers will probably make an appearance.

Don't think Spotify have too much to worry about. They were clever by getting tie ins with the big mobile providers to stream their music without affecting users data caps.

They do a fantastic job, great service, but if I could stream my music through Google music, and listen to my songs already saved I think thats a winner, also if it comes pre installed on more devices people will go ahead and use it.

Some will, but most won't imo. I certainly won't be changing as google music would eat up my data allowance very quickly whereas with Spotify I can stream all I want without it using my data allowance.

That could come with the Babel update.
Nexus 7 upgrade is a good idea, better screen would be great. I'd buy it if that was the case.

Maybe something to do with Chromebooks?

Sorry for being totally stupid, but how can you stream with spotify at a lower data allowance?

Samsung are meant to announce a Google version of their S4.

I don't know why carriers don't do more of this. How hard would it be to release two versions of a phone. One with HTC Sense or Touchwiz or whatever that seems to take months to be updated and one with just stock Android that can be updated not long after a new version comes out.

I've had a few android phones and always replace the stock launcher. I can't be bothered rooting and roming though.

Spotify have made deals with a lot of the top providers in Europe so that you pay for spotify premium through the provider and get unlimted streaming. In Germany they have a deal with T-Mobile, don't know what the situation with Irish providers is.

Sorry I didnt notice you where in Germany.
With it only launching here recently I would guess its not the case, I haven't heard of it here any ways.

But would agree with you, that is a great idea and major advantage to spotify.

Are we likely to and upgrade to chrome beta?

Also looking forward to Google glass, possible preview of key lime pie and nexus products.

Amy idea when we get 4.3 on our N4?

Will it be during the show or closer to the weekend?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

During the event seems a tad optimistic, in the past I've had upgrades on nexus devices within a couple of days of them being announced.

One thing it looks like we're getting is the ability to sync app data. If you go into sync and then your account where you would usually see the likes of chrome, contacts and calendar amongst other things overnight a new option of app data has been added.

I'd really like an S4 Google edition.
Wonder if they'll only be available through the Play Store?
I had an awful time getting hold of my Nexus 4 :pac:

I bet it wont be any cheaper than the S4, they might even make it more expensive.

I'd be happy if they come out with a 32 gig Nexus 4, 16 just seems a bit small.

Awaiting (im)patiently for it to begin. The last 30 minutes is always the toughest to sail through!

I'm hoping mostly for a monster Android update but all the rumors point to it being a small incremental one, regardless of the desert and version number.

Not too bothered about the S4 because of the classiness of the Nexus 4 which is a cut above Samsung's builds. I believe strongly in function over form and I wouldn't have written the previous sentence if I thought the S4 had a significant amount more to offer. So Nexus 4 owners, don't feel robbed. At least there's no rumor of a Nexus 5; that would make for sour viewing this evening.

    Enjoy the show!

I got an update this morning on my s3. Any idea what this update was? Still 4.1.2

Not exactly the thread for it. :P

I'd say it was a maintenance update, maybe some drivers (modem and other hardware). Do a Google to see if anything pops up. Try putting in the Baseband version or Build number.

I think the Nexus 5 or whatever the next one's going to be will likely come out later in the year. It's highly unlikely they'd even consider it now. Look at how well the Nexus 4 is selling, it's outdone everyone's expectations and Google is still struggling to keep up with the demand.

I think the Galaxy Nexus is still a good phone and you should hold out quite well with it until the end of the year. I couldn't stick my Galaxy S anymore so I wanted something quick, it has gotten so slow with today's apps all screaming POWWWEEERRRRR like an excited Jeremy Clarkson. The Galaxy Nexus isn't in such bad shape by comparison. :)

As for the X Phone. It could be a myth. But say it isn't, doesn't mean it'll be on today's agenda. You'll just have to wait and see.

Less than 3 minutes to go!

Yup, it was one of the rumors floating around for the last while. Looks decent! I wonder if they'll price it better...$9.99/mo.

Yay Samsung Galaxy S4 without the junk! Hopefully this prompts a change from manufacturers!!

    650 dollar!

$649 unlocked. Ah I love my Nexus.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

S4 vanilla android at that price won't be much of a competitor to the Nexus devices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭DECEiFER

Looks like that's it for Android. :(

No new update...yet. Hopefully it'll happen during the summer.

If there isn't even 4.3 that will be a big disappointment, but it seems to be the case.

Will it be an option for people with carrier bloated S4's to install pure android without rooting ?

I'd be surprised if that is the case. Why would anyone choose otherwise if it was an option?
