I recently built a new pc. But just looking in Speccy after playing some HD video it says the CPU temp is 68C. Is that ok? What is too hot?

    Its a AMD A10-5800K with a Corsair H60.

Good question,I have an i5 3570k which is hitting 100C with BF3 so I rekon I need a new fan,I read somewhere that 60C is fine but I will wait on the experts to reply though.

    Screenshot?

For the second poster, it sound like you're on stock cooling, get yourself a Hyper 212 Evo and overclock to 4.4ghz :)

67C with a H60 is way too high since you are only playing some hd videos I wouldn't expect it going past 40. idle temps should be in the 30's, but this depends on room temperature.

What program are you using to check the temps?

There is something up with the temps there if they are accurate. If you can, I suggest reseating the H60 on the CPU and make sure to wipe off the old thermal paste and use some new stuff.

Yeah, there is something up there, over 100c will do damage after awhile, surprised your computer isn't shutting down because of it as normally the fail save is anything over 90.

I would suggest a new heatsink/LCS, or at the very leats reseat it and make sure you have decent thermal paste on there as well.

Was using Speccy, but just ran a few more HD vids and checked in the Asrock Extreme tunning utility and its saying 28c

I had a small feeling it might be the program.

Give real temp a try and see what it reports back.

Those temps seem more realistic and what I expected based on your setup. You should be fine with them. So no problems there.

Another quick question, something Im not too sure of. Im running this memory:
    http://www.elara.ie/productdetail.aspx?productcode=JCEC-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R

And this is what I get in CPUZ:
    Untitled-2.jpg

    Does that frequency seem ok?

The DRAM freq is reports as half of your actual running freq and as of right now you are running at around 1330MHz . I would check your bios and see what it is set at as it's not running the full 1600MHZ that the ram can do.

You just cleaned the cooler and it went from 100C max to 55C?
How much dust was clogged up in it? Was the fan even moving.
