Sudden breakout of spots :(

    Hey,

Has anyone ever got a sudden breakout of spots as an adult? I used to get the odd spot here and there as a teen but not much.

Over the course of today I have gotten a number of spots, mainly on my forehead and one on my chin. Any idea what I can do about this? I haven't started using anything new - last change to my skin care was about two weeks ago.

So any advice for getting rid of spots? Im a male, so makeup isnt really a solution for me.

Hi OP, even after 2 weeks it could still be your skin-care change, try switching back to your original brand/regime and see if that helps.
I never had spots as a teen either but in my twenties had the odd break-out like you describe at times of stress or at times when my diet was poor (not enough water, fruit, veg, too much convenience food, sugar etc) - and obviously stress and poor diet often coincide so maybe that's the problem?
Also make sure you wash your pillowcases etc regularly, wash your hands often and avoid touching your face, all to avoid making the area more oily.
As for getting rid of them, make up isn't generally the solution for women either! Don't pop them (yuck!) as this will only encourage infection and/or scarring, I would use either witch hazel, sudocream or tea tree oil to help dry them out faster. Don't use the tea tree oil or witch hazel close to your eyes as it will sting.
    Good luck!

I know you've exams at the minute DylanII so maybe the spots are stress related? I know back when I was at school/college, I always had a breakout around exam time due to stress/not eating well etc.

I agree with all dee_mc's advice, especially about using sudocream or tea tree oil on the spots - put some on before you go to bed and it should be a bit better in the morning. You can get the tea tree oil in most chemists and in health food shops too.

A change to skin care, even two weeks ago, could be the issue. However, when I saw your post I thought "stress" and this is the most likely culprit, esp. if you are sitting exams at the moment. There is nothing that can really curb this other than getting rid of the stress (and we all know how impossible this is!) so stick with gentle cleansing, eat as good a diet as you can, drink loads of water and use a little tea tree oil at night on the particularly bad areas.
