Threads - Why are they phrased like this?

Why do some people phrase threads like this:

John - Is he the best at life?

    Instead of:

Is John the best at life?

I find it incredibly annoying and anyone who does it should be culled.

    Thanks for your time,

    Bye

John is terrible at life. He's certainly not the best.

jamc - Did he just create a pointless thread

Maybe it's an organisational thing, the main topic of the conversation is given a prominent position at the start of the title, it's then expanded upon slightly to indicate the content of the thread.

Well if you'd have said "Why are threads phrased like this?" your point would have been lost.

It's a subject followed by a proposition being put forward for discussion , usually including content to support one position or another, rather than just a question being asked. This is a discussion forum so things are supposed to be put forward in a way that is conducive to discussion, not just one person asking for specific information or a specific answer.

    Alice's husband doesn't have a name

    He does, its John.
24 years I'm living next door to Alice, and have met him on many occasions.
