    http://www.siliconrepublic.com/comms/item/32627-comreg-to-launch-online/

"Telecoms regulator ComReg has confirmed a new test tool is on the way to allow consumers to figure out the difference between real broadband speeds they receive and ‘advertised’ broadband speeds promised by telcos."

What a waste of time and resources. How are they gonna tell individual customers if they are receiving "real broadband" and whats Comreg's idea of real broadband.

If they want people to figure out the speeds they are actually getting use any number of the speed test sites.

I dunno maybe someone else can make more sense of it?

Much easier would be for ComReg to create a regulation, requiring all broadband suppliers to publish, on all advertising and marketing, the average speed received by all customers of a particular product.

Id guess that the 50% who don't know what speed they're getting dont actually care what speed they have.
