Finally got a few bob to upgrade my monitor and GPU just wanted to know what is the best for gaming at that resolution, also going to be doing alot of video render but I getting a 8350 to deal with that.
Was eying up a 3GB 7970 GHz Vapor-X would that be my best option?

7970 are poor value for money. A 7950 is only about 5-8% off it's performance when both are overclocked for €100 less.

Saying that you probably want sli for that resolution if you have a board that supports it you could be better off getting a 670gtx or waiting a month for a 760ti which is basically a higher clocked rebranded 670gtx and should cost near €100 less. Get a second one down the line when needed.

hate multi gpu configurations plus i only have 650w psu, i know the 7970 is poor value but thats the standard one, the ghz edition is faster than the 680gtx in most games and is €100 less just unsure about it's high re performance, seen benchmarks online but not some of the games i want to play

It's still about 100 more than a 7950 with the same cooler and clock speeds.

Wait a month and get a gtx 770 or 780.

770 should be around €400 although it could take a bit longer for good aftermarket coolers.

There's also the fact that 700 series cards should come with GPU Boost 2.0, so they'll probably clock quite a bit higher than their 600 series counterparts, not being so drastically power limited. I'd wait.

fair enough i'll think i'll wait then and just upgrade my cpu and ram for now, cheers lads

New cpus around the corner as well. Haswell is a month off too.

for video rendering the 8350 will prob be better value for money than haswell, intel are generally over priced imo, I get there better core for core than most amd cpu's but not at the premium they are.

already have a AM3+ mobo so it's far cheaper for me to get a piledrive CPU since I won't have to by a new motherboard aswell
